1971 Andre Stempfel French Screenprint. Printed on thick white cardboard in France by Michel Caza. Hand signed by the artist and part of limited series 88/150. Striking original design that still looks timeless and modern more than sixty years after this piece was released.
Size: 26.5"H x 21.75"W.
Condition: Excellent condition with some faint creases from natural age.
About the Artist - Andre Stempfel
André Stempfel was a French abstract artist working in the post-war Parisian tradition of Hard-Edge and geometric abstraction. Active primarily in the 1960s and 1970s, he worked within a milieu of French artists exploring the relationship between bold flat colour, biomorphic form and spatial tension. A tradition that ran parallel to American Colour Field painting while maintaining a distinctly European sensibility rooted in the legacy of Matisse and Léger.
This 1971 screenprint was produced by Michel Caza, one of the most respected fine art printers in Paris, whose atelier produced editions for some of the most significant French artists of the era, including Sami Briss and others in the Terre des Arts stable.
