About the Artist - Jean Pierre Laurent
Jean-Pierre Laurent is a French painter, watercolorist, and lithographer born on November 26, 1920, in Paris. He trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became associated with the Impressionist tradition, focusing his work on landscapes and maritime scenes. His paintings are known for a palette of soft colors and careful attention to the play of light, capturing the character of French ports and coastal towns.
Over the course of his career, Laurent exhibited widely in France and abroad, and his lithographs and watercolors, often signed and numbered, have been especially admired for their delicacy and sensitivity.
