About the Artist - Claude Serre

Claude Serre (1938–1998) was a French illustrator and cartoonist known for his satirical and humorous work. Born in Paris, Serre began his career as a cartoonist in the 1960s, gaining recognition for his distinctive style that often featured exaggerated, comical characters.

Serre's illustrations frequently appeared in French magazines and newspapers, and he became particularly renowned for his collaborations with the satirical publication "Hara-Kiri." His art often conveyed social and political commentary through a whimsical lens, using humor as a means of critique.

In 1982, Claude Serre was awarded the prestigious Grand Prix de l'Humour Vache at the International Humor Exhibition in France, solidifying his reputation as a master of satirical art. His work has been exhibited internationally, and his cartoons continue to be celebrated for their wit and incisive observations on contemporary society.
