His principal medium since fourth grade, photography has been central to his artistic expression. In 2015, he expanded his creative pursuits to sculpting, and by 2016, he incorporated 3D printing into his process, using it for both maquettes for lost wax bronzes and direct resin-based prints. Steinberg has taught courses in alternative process printing and the use of supercomputers in original art production at esteemed institutions such as The Maine Photographic Workshop, The Santa Fe Workshop, The Woodstock Workshop, and The Center for Creative Imaging.
