About the Artist - Andy Warhol 
Andy Warhol (1928-1987) was a leading figure in the Pop Art movement of the 1960s. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he moved to New York City in 1949, where he gained fame as a commercial artist before transitioning to fine art. Warhol was known for his iconic works, such as the Campbell's Soup Cans and Marilyn Monroe portraits, which explored themes of consumerism and celebrity culture.
 
Warhol's studio, "The Factory," became a hub for avant-garde artists and celebrities, and he embraced mass production techniques, using silk-screening to create his art. He also ventured into filmmaking, producing experimental films like "Chelsea Girls" and "Empire."
 
Warhol's eccentric persona and fascination with fame led to intriguing stories. He survived an assassination attempt in 1968 by Valerie Solanas, an artist who claimed he had too much influence on her work. Warhol's obsession with documenting his life through photography and film left a lasting legacy, and his work continues to be celebrated for its commentary on modern culture and celebrity.
