About the Artist - Pierre Garcia-Fons
Pierre Garcia-Fons was born in Badalona near Barcelona in 1928. In 1950 he moved to Paris where he studied at the Academie de la Grande Chaumiere and frequented painters Cueco, Clave, Rebeyrolle, Buffet, Valls, Arroyo and many others. His painting are marked by the influence of Cezanne and Bonnard. In 1956, received a Travel Award from the State and the Antral price. He began exhibiting at the Salon of "La Jeune Peinture" where he become a board member and Vice-Chairman until 1967.
In 1958, he achieves the Fénéon prize. He continues to participate in annual events such as Salon de Mai, Paris Biennale and more. He then successfully went on to be part of over fifty special exhibitions in Paris, Perpignan, Chartres, New York, Nantes, Grenoble, Chicago, Tokyo Caracas, Lausanne, Ceret, Palm Springs, Fort de Bellegarde Le Perthus, Fort -de- France etc.
 
In 2004 , he was appointed to the rank of Knight in the Order of Arts and Letters. The Government of the Generalitat of Catalonia invites him to exhibit at the Maison de Catalunya in Paris. In 2006, won the Grand Prix LG Baudry Taylor Foundation in Paris. The city of Perpignan honors throughout his career with a major retrospective of 1946-2006 with 300 works on display throughout the summer at the Couvent des Minimes and a catalog of 200 pages with 100 reproductions of sculptures, oil paintings, and on paper, drawings, watercolors, book illustrations, fabrics glued on canvas, etc. His works have been acquired by a score of museums, including those of Modern Art in Paris, Barcelona,  Chartres, Jakarta, Perpignan, Bagnols-sur-Ceze, Yamagata, Osaka, Saint-Cyprien, Georges Pompidou, Sands'Olonne, the Abbey of Saint -Claude. The artist passed away in 2016.
